Our sixth and most recent vehicle, Gato del Sol VI - following a long lineage of Gato del Sols, came to life in July of 2018.
Boasting a lighter, stronger composite chassis, a more effective solar cell array, and a two-motor system not seen in our cars since Gato del Sol I, Gato del Sol VI is our fastest and most efficient car to date.
In 2019, Gato del Sol VI finished 3rd in the 2019 Formula Sun Grand Prix, our best finish since 2009. Gato del Sol VI also set a lap record of 3:48.975 at Circuit of the Americas during that race, shattering the previous record by over 40 seconds!
Gato del Sol VI continued to shatter expectations as it achieved 1st at FSGP 2021 and 2nd at ASC 2021, successfully completing ~1550 race miles!
In 2022, Gato VI made podium finishes in FSGP & ASC yet again, even earning the fastest lap award. We are so grateful to have had such success thanks to the hard work of the team and the support of our sponsors!
